Sweetheart Ball Casting Call
Thank you for your interest in joining the Sweetheart Ball Princess Team! The Ball is an annual, princess-themed fundraising event hosted by Switch, a non-profit dedicated to fighting human trafficking in Upstate SC. It is family focused and we are anticipating 300 children and adults to attend. Members of the Princess Team are the main attraction of the Ball, appearing in full costume to greet, entertain, and interact with the guests.
A casting call will be held at 135 Edinburgh Court in Greenville, SC on January 19th from 2-4 pm to fill all Princess Team positions. Applicants should arrive between those hours for a brief, individual interview with the event coordinators and with a completed application form. If you've stated performing arts experience on your application, please prepare a brief performance to share with the coordinators at that time.
Being a member of the Princess team is always a fun and rewarding experience, but requires a commitment to the character as well as of your time.
Here is a list of some things you should understand as you carefully consider auditioning for the team:
Participation in the Sweetheart Ball is voluntary, and no compensation is offered to any member of the Princess Team
If chosen, team members will be required to consent to a background check at a cost of $15. If you are a Switch volunteer and have already done a background check, no further action is required. However, the application and casting process is required for everyone, even if you are a Switch volunteer or have appeared as a princess in previous years.
Meetings & fittings are very important, and attendance on the following dates is mandatory
Saturday, Feb. 2nd, 10-12am - First costume fitting
Saturday, March 2nd, 1-3pm - Princess training
Additional fittings may be necessary for some characters & will be arranged on an individual basis keeping your schedule in mind
The Sweetheart Ball is on April 5th, 2019, and it's mandatory that members of the Princess Team are available all day for hair, makeup, costuming, rehearsals, etc
Members of the Princess Team are required to sign a media release form, and should be comfortable having their photograph taken and shared on social media by guests and event photographers.
Princess roles are not scripted and rely on each team member to skillfully portray the character's mannerisms in an interactive setting. You should feel confident in your ability to "become" the princess and never break character under any circumstance!
We hope to meet you on the 19th, and look forward to potentially working together to create a special night!
